About Tenent

About Tenent Financial Education

Tenent Financial Education was established on the conviction that financial literacy is a fundamental life skill — and one that should be accessible to all young people, regardless of background.

Our Founder

Christopher A. Hawkins, MA (Cantab), CFA

Chris read Engineering at Cambridge before pursuing a 30-year career in finance, working in New York, Boston, and London across a major international investment bank, a fund of hedge funds, and an asset management firm.

Throughout that career, he developed a parallel commitment to financial education — leading in-house seminars and client workshops, and translating complex concepts into accessible language. It was this experience that led him to establish Tenent and direct his expertise towards schools and universities.

His work with Tenent led to an invitation to teach Economics at a London secondary school. He is also sought after as a private tutor in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and is an active choir master and performer with a number of London choirs.

The financial knowledge that often feels like insider information is, in reality, accessible to everyone — it simply requires good teaching. That is what Tenent is here to provide.

Our Mission

A programme for every stage of education

Poor financial literacy carries real and lasting consequences. At an individual level, it contributes to poor decisions regarding debt, saving, and investment. More broadly, it is a recognised driver of financial exclusion and social inequality.

Tenent works with schools, universities, and employers to deliver the financial knowledge young people need throughout their lives — designing focused, effective programmes tailored to the specific requirements of each institution and the stage of each cohort.

Our aim is to be the most insightful financial educator in our field: not simply informative, but genuinely engaging — delivering sessions that resonate with students and remain with them long after the event.

How we work

Our values

💬

Clear

Plain language, no jargon. Complex ideas explained with precision and accessibility.

🌱

Empowering

We equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to manage their own financial affairs.

🤝

Warm

Approachable, inclusive, and encouraging — sessions are calibrated to the experience and confidence level of each group.

🎓

Credible

Grounded in 30 years of professional financial experience, not textbook theory.

Our Responsibilities

Sustainability & Ethics

Tenent takes its responsibilities to stakeholders, to society, and to the environment seriously. We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to treating all employees, clients, and contractors with respect and integrity. We adhere strictly to anti-bribery and anti-corruption principles; our reputation is built on the quality and value of what we deliver.

We are mindful of our environmental impact: avoiding unnecessary travel, sourcing energy from renewable suppliers, minimising waste in all forms, and discouraging single-use plastic across our operations.

Our core mission — to deliver quality financial education regardless of background — is itself an expression of our commitment to social responsibility. Poor financial literacy is a recognised contributor to poverty and inequality, and education is among the most effective means of addressing it.
